The man in black is Sally Dumplin who is overshadowed by the Triumvirate dubbed Awatafuuleeshbunch by the native Cherokee.  (roughly translated as "those who pester yellowjackets and talk too much")

That is either Cataloochee Mtn or Big Balsam, I am not sure.  However, we did hike that spine and dropped off Big Butt to stay at Laurel Gap, slightly to the left of the prominent peak.

It's a window George.  They are often used for lighting and ventilation.  I am certain you could tell us how to say window in five Eastern European languages.

Tanning where the moustache used to be.

From the tower.

We arrive at Laurel Gap Shelter which we share with the Ohio Peak Baggers, Chuck, Kenny and John (left to right).   They were able to bag several of the 6000 ft peaks in the area which required significant bushwhacking, I am certain.  I am most impressed by their camp comforts which included a 17 lb keg of refreshment.  Hey, after that day, you guys earned it.  Had a great fire and look forward to seeing you guys on the trail again soon.

Sunday morning was glorious with the moon shadowing our progress.

Waiting for George to get out of bed.

The Dayton Group departs for home.

Grady the retro hiker with McGee at Balsam Mtn. split.

After 5 or six miles down Gunter Fork from Laurel Gap, we spy the firetower from yesterday.  We have crossed the spine to the right on Sterling Ridge trail and dropped down Balsam Mtn to Gunter Fork.

A little piece of magic near the bottom of Gunter Fork.

Deja Vu?  How about last week.  Final descent down Big Creek trail minus the snake jumping making for an 11-12 mile day and 20.8 total, according to BC, the step counter.
