Editors Note:  As I sit here in Colorado sipping coffee debating the merits of skiing Breckenridge again or Vail today, I peruse the photos from last weekend and the Hikumentary which is compliments of Kevin Umberger this week.  I would bore you with the details of all the great skiing we have had but.................   Happy St. Patty's Day to All.   John

Injun Creek Campsite 32   March 12

Ahhhhhhhhhh…………..The Ides Of March………..or something like that…….Or as the rest of the Southern Highlanders like to call it---“the hike without John”…..

After a burst of mountain snow on Thursday, the weather cleared for a highlander favorite---campsite 32……..

Blue skies (my subtle allman brothers reference as next weekend I’m seeing them at the beacon in NYC) and warm temps made the hike along Injun Creek Manway a nice breeze………..

Wildflowers poppin’ up along the old homesites and ruins of the Greenbrier area…………

With the recent cold, rain, and snow, Injun Creek was running high, making for a couple of rock hops across it……..

A gig for the Livid Privies meant staggered arrival times at camp, and one of the early birds, the Kelvinator, decided to wander the Dudley Creek area………..Various homesites, artifacts, and the Ogle Cemetery laid upon this forgotten part of the park……

As per the highlander standard, we had a nice pile of wood………..courtesy of itwillcutya and sally d’s nice hatchet…….

And with the fire, who could resist cooking up some dead animals, other than our veterinarian friend will………He and his wife Jenny were kind enough to bring up some beef brisket……..Making two round of delicious eatin, the highlanders were powered up to saw and split wood most of the night…..

Morning came early with warm temps all throughout the night…….

Made for a perfect spring training backpacking trip………..
